University of Mumbai (popularly known as Mumbai University) offers degree, diploma courses and certification courses to applicants at UG, PG, and PhD levels. Courses offered are in the streams of Humanities and Social Sciences, IT and Software, Travel, Accounting and Commerce, Science, Business and Management Studies, Law, Teaching and Education, Arts (Fine/Visual/Performing), Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Medicine and Health Sciences, and Mass Communication and Media. In addition to this, Mumbai University (MU) also offers various UG and PG courses in distance learning mode.
Despite being one of the best and most popular universities in the country, MU does not have an internship policy for it's students. This is more worrisome when there exists no record of how many students completed their internships last year. In the recent announcement by HRD Ministry about compulsory internships, this gap of having no-internship-policy certainly affects lacs of engineering students who study at institutions affiliated to Mumbai University.
Below is the information regarding the total number of under-graduate students who did their Summer Internships during 2015-16. This data is compiled under Right To Information Act, 2005 from RTI Cell, University of Mumbai (MU).
