Internship Records - National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT)

The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was established in November 1993 as an autonomous society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.

The Institute offers technical education on coastal and environmental engineering, energy and fresh water, marine sensor systems, marine biotechnology, ocean acoustics and modelling, ocean electronics and ocean structures. Many technology projects on deep sea mining, gas hydrates and submersibles are carried in NIOT.

Internship Projects at NIOT

Students can select one of the following projects for their Internship program:

1. Vessel Management Cell 2. Ocean Structures 3. Strategic, Planning & Management 4. Deep Sea Mining 5. Ocean observation system 6. Energy and Fresh Water 7. Marine Biotechnology 8. ROSUB/Gas hydrates 9. Marine Sensors 10. Coastal and Environmental Engineering 11. Ocean Acoustics 12. Ocean Electronics 13. Administration 14. Computer Maintenance 15. Marine Sensor Systems

Internship Application Process

The application for projects will be shortlisted based on the vacancy, academic performance and interest of the student(s) in NIOT related projects.

Shortlisted student(s) are informed through mail with a separate application form which needs to be submitted in hard copy with authorization from the institute. The processing time of an application is normally 3-4 weeks.

Any project work done at NIOT is the property of the NIOT and strict confidentiality need to be maintained.

Note: NIOT does not provide any accommodation for students undergoing internship project work.

Students Internship Details (2015-16)

From 2015 till January, 2016, 147 students completed their internship project training at National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).

The selected interns were from following discipline:

1. Bachelor of Engineering

2. Masters of Engineering

3. Bachelor of Technology

4. Master of Technology
